Solved Problems :

1. There are 600 students in a school. 60% are boys. How many girl students are ther in the school?

Solution :

60% of 600 = (60 /100 ) × 600 = 60 × 6 = 360.

∴ Number of girls in the school = 600 - 360 = 240.

2. Sam earns Rs.12000 per month. Out of this he spends 60% on food and other items of daily needs 10% on rent and 5% on petrol for his vehicle. How much does he save every month?

Solution:

Amount spent on food and other items = Rs. (60% of 12000)

= Rs. (60 /100 ) × 12000 = Rs.60 × 120 = Rs. 7200

Rent paid = 10 % of Rs. 12000 = Rs. (10 /100 ) × 12000 = Rs. 10 × 120 = Rs. 1200

Amount spent on petrol = 5% of Rs. 12000

= Rs. (5 / 100) × 12000 = Rs. (5 × 120) = Rs.600

∴ Total monthly expenses = Rs. (7200 + 1200 + 600 ) = Rs. 9000

∴Sam's every month savings = Earning - Expenses = Rs. 12000 - Rs. 9000 = Rs. 3000.

Number of voter who voted for B party = 35 % of 1,40,000

= (35/100) × 140000 = (35 × 1400) = 49000
